LUDWIG BEMELMANS writer and illustrator of one of the world's best known schoolgirls...MADELINE.
From the first book "Madeline" in 1939 to the last book "Madeline in London" in 1961, he only produced six stories - well seven, if you include a later publication "Madeline in America" - yet this little character is known and loved throughout the world. Why?
