Mammy Bears Books 1 September 2018 · Today I'd like to feature a wonderful artist -Miroslav Sasek (1916 - 1980). Sasek was a Czech author and illustrator, who usually published under the name "M. Sasek". He is most remembered for a series of children's books called "This Is...". the first being "This is Paris" published in 1959. The series was written for children, being educational and entertaining travel books, to teach them about some of the great cities, countries and regions in the world. His style is very 1950s and has a distinct Eastern European feel, but is completely enduring, even for today's readers. He did write one or two other books, one being "Mike and the Modelmakers" - story about how 'Matchbox" models are made. Check him out, his books are fun AND educational
