Fairy_Tales-I

Mammy Bears Books 11 March ยท My last post was relating to Nursery Rhymes...let us move on to the wonderful world of Fairy Tales. Whether your interest lies with Antiquarian copies like 'Andersen's Fairy Tales' circa 1897 or unusual Fairy Tale stories like 'The Midnight Folk' by John Masefield there is a plethora of beautiful books to be found if you care to look. One of my most unusual and lovely Fairy Tale books is 'With Father Tuck in Fairyland' a 19th century moveable book; in that you complete the picture with the relevant fairytale characters, which are stored in a pocket in the back on the book. Did you know that Lewis Carroll wrote a fairytale called 'The Story of Sylvie and Bruno'? Or that there is a book by Oscar Wilde on this wonderful subject - 'The Complete Fairy Stories of Oscar Wilde'. Re-telling of fairy tales is another popular subject and to my mind Ruth Manning-Sanders is a master of this, her book 'Old Witch Boneyleg' being a case in point. So the moral of the story, my children, is to have a browse through my website and see what Fairytale whets your appetite...Bon Appetit!
