One of my favourite childhood books "A Child's Garden of Verses" is a collection of poems by Robert Louis Stevenson.
"A Child's Garden of Verses is a collection of poetry for children by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, a collection that concerns childhood, illness, play, and solitude. The collection first appeared in 1885 under the title Penny Whistles, but has been reprinted many times, often in illustrated versions." Wikipedia.
It does seem amazing that for over a century this wonderful collection of poems for children have so captivated artists from all over the world.
The wonderful talents of the men and women who have illustrated these poems are many - from A H Watson, Hilda Boswell, Eloise Wilkin to Tasha Tudor, Charles Robinson, along with Gyo Fujikawa, Brian Wildsmith and Jessie Willcox Smith to name but a few.
If you have never read any of these delightful poems, seek out a copy, especially an illustrated one, and smile
