Description:-The autobiography of Osbert Sitwell - Sir Osbert Sitwell, 5th Baronet, in full Francis Osbert Sacheverell Sitwell, (Dec. 6, 1892, London, Eng - May 4, 1969) - an interesting British eccentric. Vol 1 First Edition 6th printing 1952; Vol 2 First Edition 1st printing 1946; Vol 3 First Edition 2nd printing 1948; Vol 4 First Edition 1st printing 1949; Vol 5 First Edition 1st printing 1950. All have red cloth hard boards with gilt lettering to black labels on spine, in their original dust jackets. Volumes have previous owners name 'Paquita Day' on half title page. Handprint designs to endpapers, varying by volume. Spines darkened on all dust jackets, faded title to spine of Vol 2 with damage to spine edges. Dust jackets have shallow chipping and short tears to extremities. Of interest to Biography readers - George Orwell stated about this 5 volume autobiography that "although the range they cover is narrow, (they) must be among the best autobiographies of our time" The Adelphi.
